The Faya Palaeolandscape, inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in July 2025, is a globally significant archaeological site in Sharjah, UAE, recognized as the first desert Paleolithic site on the list for its 210,000-year record of continuous human habitation. Featuring 18 archaeological layers with stone tools, it offers critical insights into early human migration, resilience, and adaptation in arid environments. Excavated over decades by the Sharjah Archaeology Authority with global partners, the site underscores the Arabian Peninsula’s role in human evolution.
