nishi hongan ji
Nishi Hongan-ji is a significant Jōdo Shinshū Buddhist temple located in Kyoto, Japan. Established in 1591, it serves as the head temple of the Honganji-ha sub-sect and is renowned for its historical and architectural value. The temple complex includes several structures that have been designated as National Treasures and Important Cultural Assets, such as the Amidado and Goeido halls. In recognition of its cultural importance, Nishi Hongan-ji was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, as part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto.
