The Antigua Naval Dockyard, also known as Nelson's Dockyard, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 2016 as the Antigua Naval Dockyard and Related Archaeological Sites. This exceptionally preserved Georgian-era naval base, the only continuously operating one of its kind in the world, features a collection of 18th- and early 19th-century British naval buildings, warehouses, fortifications, and related structures set within a walled enclosure. It exemplifies outstanding British naval engineering and strategic use of natural deep-water harbors and surrounding defensive hills in the Caribbean context during the colonial period.
