Bagerhat in Bangladesh is the Historic Mosque City of Bagerhat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site founded in the 15th century by the Turkish general and saint Ulugh Khan Jahan (Khan Jahan Ali) as the medieval city of Khalifatabad. It features many preserved Islamic monuments, most notably the iconic Sixty Dome Mosque, along with mausoleums, bridges, and tanks, showcasing early Bengal Muslim architecture and serving as an outstanding example of a planned medieval Islamic settlement in the region.
